Local Oak Harbor-based publication company Dive News Network Media Group (DNN) is seeking a skilled individual to help complement its editorial staff. A small organization, DNN produces North America Dive News: a print and online magazine focused on providing scuba divers, environmentalists, and water-lovers of all kinds with exciting and informative news relevant to their favorite passions.
Starting hours for this position are 10 - 20 hours a week depending on experience and skill. Starting pay is $10/hr.
Ideal candidates for this position will have the following criteria:
- Experience in journalism, print, media, copy editing, fact-checking, graphic design, web design, and/or social networking.
- Adept at English grammar, punctuation, and editing.
- Extremely organized.
- Ability to understand and take directions.
- A high attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- A flexible schedule and ability to quickly swap between varying tasks.
- Skill in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Proficiency in Adobe products (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
- A friendly, laid-back personality, which can perform well under pressure.
Candidates who exhibit the following criteria will be strongly considered:
- A degree in English, journalism, communications, graphic design, web design, and/or public relations may be supplemented for work experience. We may also consider hiring for this position if the candidate is currently studying in one of the aforementioned fields. This decision will be strongly influenced during the interview process.
- Experience working on a design team and a firm understanding of time management.
- An understanding of web design and social networking.
- Ability to troubleshoot PC-based software issues should they arise.
