Seattle area based, Moss Bay Dive Club has created a new Frequent Diver Program to reward its members who dive locally and frequently. The program centers on a new 6 / 60 discount card from participating local dive shops that offers users four free air fills if they purchase six airfills within a 60 day period. The promotion partners the dive club with local dive shops to promote an active local diving community.
According to dive club president, Dave McLean, the club is trying to encourage its members to support the local dive centers and offer benefits to its members. “Sometimes dive clubs get a bad rap with the local dive shops. They often see us coming in to request a discount, another discount and yet another discount. As with nearly all membership organizations, we are looking for ways to create value in our club membership, other than getting to hang out with us” grinned McLean. We didn’t want to ask any local dive shops for any discounts without offering something in return. “We racked our brains to come up with a win-win arrangement. This new plan is a win for the dive center as it brings them paying customers who dive locally and often. It rewards our local divers with some additional discounts and is heartily endorsed by the dive centers. As a result, we are able give out more cards at our meetings and promote more diving than ever before” explained McLean.
The cards will be given away randomly as door prizes at club meetings to members who attend. Each card is good at the endorsing dive center only and can be redeemed for two free airfills at the time of issue. Then the card is presented along with a proof of dive log, and the dive club member purchases six airfills at regular price

(3 fills of Nitrox) over the next 60 days. If they get their card punched six times over the 60 day period, then they get two more fills – free.
“That is 4 free with 6 paid – pretty good benefit at the local dive club” grinned McLean.

This program is an example of dive community members thinking Win-Win and for the long-term health of our community.
Good work!

Goals of the program:

  • Give divers an incentive to dive frequently and immediately
  • Create excitement at club meetings with a giveaway that has value
  • Partner with Dive Centers in the Seattle Area

How it works:

Moss Bay Dive Club (MBDC) will give away 6/60 program cards at a club meeting. The cards will be awarded by a random drawing. The 6/60 cards will be for a specific dive center and good for only 60 days from date of award (MBDC will date the cards). Typially we will give out 2 -3 cards per dive center per month.

The MBDC member goes to the Dive Center with their 6/60 card and presents it to the Manager. The Manager checks that they have a MBDC membership card and then gives the MBDC member two filles of air or one Nitrox fill at no charge.

The Dive Center Manager punches or stamps the fills on the card.

The MBDC member returns and pays for six fills (3 fills of nitrox) over a 60 day period from the date on the card.

At the end of the 60 day period - or sooner - If the MBDC member dove all the fills, they bring their log bok/sheet and the completed card to the Dive Center and receive two more free fills of air (or one of the nitrox) as congratulations for their diving activity.

The MBDC member brings their completed card to a MBDC club meeting and has it entered for a quarterly drawing.

Rules: A maximum of two fills per day can be punched or signed off on the card. The MBDC member agrees that they will dive al lfills. The card is non-transferrable. The card is only for the Dive CEnter identified on it. You cannot have more than one 6/60 card per dive center active at any time.

Why it's good for Dive Centers:

  • MBDC member dives
  • MBDC member visits dive center five times in 60 days
  • Dive Center gets to know MBDC member
